Question about the recipe function on app

I've been using the recipe function on the app for a few months now. I make many of the same meals for the week, so I'll just update the recipe with the amounts or what I have on hand or maybe if I'm tinkering, and then save it. A bit ago I noticed the Cal per serving didn't change even though I changed the ingredients. I always assumed it updated that and maybe it was just taking awhile, but made me think/worry. Want to make sure that it does auto update that if anyone knows. ALSO, if it does, does it retroactively change the Cal values logged in the weeks to months before? Thanks!

When you edit and save an existing Recipe that you created previously, it creates a new database record with a new database record ID. It will not change any of the information you have already logged in your Food Diary, because the Food Diary set of tables is totally different than the set of tables in your Recipe list. You will have to choose the edited Recipe and log the newly edited one into your Food Diary. This process is the same for any food in the public Food Database, any changes to a public food item will have no effect on something that is already logged in your Food Diary. This is a normal and expected behavior for relational databases.

If you do update a Recipe and notice that the nutrition information has not changed, there may be a delay in syncing the data on your mobile device with the information on the web servers where all of your information is permanently stored. If you notice it is not updated, you may want to wait a few hours and check back. If it continues, I would recommend opening a Case with Customer Support on the MFP Help pages...

It should update them for the recipe. I have had fewer problems with editing recipes on the app than the website, but sometimes when I go to save and log a recipe, it will either use the old calorie number or make up some random number like 4728 calories per serving and try to log that. Sometimes just hitting save rather than save and log fixes it, sometimes I just have to redo all of the edits and save again. I am now really careful about making sure it updated the recipe before I log it.

For the diary entries, the entry will reflect the recipe at the time you added it to your diary. So if I add a recipe for dinner at 8 this morning for 400 calories, then update the recipe tonight when I make it and it now comes to 417 calories, the diary entry will still read 400 calories. I have to delete the entry I added in the morning, and add it to my diary again to get the current 417 calorie version logged.
