Grilling?

Is grilling a less healthier choice or is it actually better? Spring time is coming and I spend a lot of time at the grill. What are some good healthy recipes, and best types of meat, veggies, etc. to grill?

One of my favorite things to do when I'm grilling is chop up a small potato, a quarter of an onion, and half a bell pepper, then put it in some aluminum foil with a teaspoon of margarine and some spices (black pepper, garlic powder, italian seasoning). Then just fold it up into a packet and throw it on the grill while you're cooking your meat.
It's a side dish for your meat that isn't too terrible for you and is really tasty.1 -
Why would throwing your meat on the grill somehow be unhealthy....
IDK...I grill all of the time, year around. I don't generally grill my veggies unless I'm doing kabobs...as meat goes...well, pretty much anything...I grill steaks, chicken, fish, pork...whatever...0 -
I love grilling! The only thing I have ever heard is that the char might not be that good for you. But I typical try not to over cook or burn things so I never paid attention to the warnings. Also if you use fatty cut of meat that might be less healthy. But generally I think grilling is great.
I make foil packets, grill burgers(beef and turkey), grill fillings for tacos, grill veggies. You name it; it is great on the grill. Here are some things I have done.

"If cooking meat:
Limit portion sizes and cut smaller pieces to shorten cook time.
Leaner cuts prevent dripping fat from causing flare-ups, which can deposit carcinogens on the meat.
Use a marinade–studies have shown that marinating your meat before grilling can decrease HCA formation by up to 96 percent.
Flip meat frequently to reduce carcinogens that may arise
Reduce the heat–cooking at slightly lower temperatures is enough to substantially reduce HCA formation ."

These days everything causes cancer. Personally I wouldn't worry about it too much but there is scientific studies showing that it can be harmful. I still grill/smoke my meats just cause you can get away with eating a unseasoned piece of chicken and not having it taste bland.0
