... and I would love some advice on what types of foods I should get! I'm looking to clean up my diet a bit but I need to know the correct way to do that so I don't feel hungry all the time.
What types of foods fill you up?
When planning a meal how should I go about it? What portions?
What is Quinoa? I heard it tastes good in a lot of things. What's it taste like? Do you recommend it?
White or wheat? (Bread and rice.)
I'm allergic to almond milk, what else can I try as a healthier alternative to regular milk?
What types of meats are best?
All in all when it comes to healthy eating, what should be in my cart? (Besides fruits and veggies, I already have that part planned out.)
Thank you so much to anyone who helps me out a bit, I'm really looking forward to your answers!

Nonfat plain greek yogurt (Fage is my fave).
Organic meusli with no added sugar (Bob's Red Mill is my choice)
I eat a lot of grilled seafood, mostly fresh halibut and salmon.
Natural peanut butter.
There's nothing unhealthy about milk, I drink quite a bit.
Brown jasmine rice.
Steel cut oats (again, Bob's Red Mill brand)0 -

What types of foods fill you up? Protiens and fibre work best for most ppl

What is Quinoa? I heard it tastes good in a lot of things. What's it taste like? Do you recommend it? No! I do not! To me it tastes like a cross between tomato seeds and wild rice. It's a high protien seed meant to be used in place of grains like rice and to each thier own, but I've tried it in a couple different ways now and I just don't like it. Yuck!
White or wheat? (Bread and rice.) Whatever makes you happiest, just eat it in moderation.
I'm allergic to almond milk, what else can I try as a healthier alternative to regular milk? What's wrong with milk?? Are you lactose intolerant, or do you have some aversion to cows milk?
What types of meats are best? When choosing lower calorie options, I tend to stck to lean cuts of pork and chicken for the most versatility in recipes, though fish can be great too.

Make a plan before you go to the store, pick recipes you want to make for the week and build your grocery list off of those. This way you will purchase less unnecessary foods and save money.0 -
What foods to you like? Why don't you start with healthier versions of them?
When I grocery shop I go through the ads and see what is on sale and base my meals that week on that.
A few staples I tend to keep around though:
Canned tuna
Natural Peanutbutter or other nut butters
Extra virgin olive oil
Bananas ( I always try and keep some in the freezer for smoothies)
Almonds
Seasonal fruits and veggies as all as a varied select of frozen fruits and veggies.
Various types of beans, quinoa, some type of rice
Greek yogurt.0 -

I like non-fat greek yogurt (Fage is the best IMHO), Hummus, Eggs/egg whites, Proteins keep me fullest the longest...

They've got these nifty plates now that have pretty designs on them for portion control, but generally speaking, you want to keep the meat portion down to 3-4 oz, starch (rice, potatoes, pasta, bread) down to 1/4 of the plate, and bulk up on the veggies (salads, steamed veggies, etc).
What is Quinoa? I heard it tastes good in a lot of things. What's it taste like? Do you recommend it?
Love Quinoa! It's a seed (whole grain). Cooks up quick and I use it as a substitute for rice or pasta a lot. It's also good in soups, chili, with veggies.
White or wheat? (Bread and rice.)
Definately looks at the labels to see if whole wheat or whole grain is listed at the first ingredient. This will be better for you, as it provides more fiber and fills you up better. I like the Orowheat Double Fiber bread. Taste pretty good and has 5g of fiber per slice. Two slices as part of a sandwich gets me a big chunk of my fiber intake for the day. Brown rice is better than white, though it takes longer to cook.

I only drink regular fat-free milk, so not sure. Soy milk?
What types of meats are best?
Chicken, fish (tilapia, salmon, sardines), buffalo if you don't want to give up red meat (it's generally less fat)
All in all when it comes to healthy eating, what should be in my cart? (Besides fruits and veggies, I already have that part planned out.)
It's really a matter of taste. Staples I like to keep in my pantry/fridge include, plain greek yogurt (subs well for sour cream), egg whites, eggs, milk, nuts (walnuts, pine nuts), brown rice, quinoa, whole grain pasta, hummus, whole wheat pita, salsa, herbs/spices (especially chili powder, garlic powder, paprika, basil, oregano, rosemary, sea salt), balsamic vinegar, olive oil, Quaker rolled oats, Britta filters to keep my water pitcher going, dried lentils, barley...
Thank you so much to anyone who helps me out a bit, I'm really looking forward to your answers!0
