The pill and weight gain

So, I have had to take the contraceptive pill (combined) for the last couple of months, its not my normal form of contraception but necessary for a short period of time. I have also had a rapid weight gain (above my normal sitting weight) and it is being pretty stubborn about moving in the last 4 weeks. I have a pretty good handle on what I need to do to lose weight and I haven't been able to shift any for over a month! I'm working through all the options of what I need to tweak to get things moving again - including buying a digital scale so I can get stringent on weights (I use measuring cups mostly now) but this has been playing in my mind as a potential issue as well.
I have read a bunch of studies that say there is no evidence of weight gain with the pill long-term but that it can cause weight gain in the first couple of months, then evens out. Anecdotally a lot of people seem to attribute weight gain to it.
So I've stopped taking it now (no longer need to, it was a short term corrective thing) and I'm wondering: has anyone else experienced sharp stubborn weight gain when starting on the pill? and anyone who has stopped taking it, did you see any shifts in your weight and how long did it take after stopping?
Thanks

No. The pill never affected my weight. Some people find that they bloat, or gain water weight, when they first start it.0

It is not the pill that makes you gain weight. It is the fact that the pill will increase your appetite and you eat more.

I have been on and off about 4-5 different pills for the last 15 or so years. They have never affected my weight one way or another.0

I've not found the pill to affect my weight but I have found when I've gone back on it that I will stall for a week or two until the weight starts to shift again. I think it's water weight mostly. I haven't noticed it increasing my appetite but then I have to take steroids long term anyway and those are a beast for increasing the appetite!0

I carry two pounds in water weight when I'm on the pill. When I'm off it for the sugar pill week the 2lbs drop off within a couple of days and a couple days after being back on it comes back on. I have lost 50 lbs regardless and look at that instead of worrying about it. I would gain wayyyyyy more getting pregnant. LOL0

Yeah I am hopeful it is just water. I haven't felt hungry and am still eating the same cals (but it is possible I stretched them) I need to focus on accurate logging give it a month and hopefully see some movement0
