The Frustrating 50 Factor

Hello! New here. First time post. Just turned 50 and I am so frustrated with the weight gains! Last few months it's been 15lb gain and I've been doing LesMills BodyPump,BodyStep,BodyAttack classes 5 times a week. Walking other day and resting 1 day. Doing Protein shakes, supplements and eating around 1500-1700 calories a day. I'm 5'7 and nearly 170lbs. My typical weight is 150-155. Anyone had Any luck or tips for shredding pounds when Menopause hits??!!

Hi there! I'm sorry you're frustrated. It must be tough. Sounds like you're really active though! Are you eating 1500-1700 + adding protein shakes/supplements? Or does your 1500-1700 include that?

That includes the protein shakes. I'll
Usually do one as a meal replacement one day and maybe a snack another day. Around 24 G protein and 200 cal

How long have you been tracking your weight? I put your information into this TDEE calculator (http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html) and with your intake/exercise level, you should be seeing a 1lb/week loss.

One thing to keep in mind, and this happens to me on the daily haha, is that weight loss isn't linear. Sometimes I'll be the same weight for about 2-4 weeks then BAM I drop 4lbs overnight.

Hi there im 47 and started menopause almost 2 years ago. I also started gaining. I am 5'4" My highest weight was 190 I am now 158 but I slowly started gaining last year and I have realized my calories can not remain where they were. I have since limited my calories to 1100-1200 daily except sundays when I eat more. I am lightly active but I realize at this point its how it needs to be for me to lose a few pounds...not easy!!

Wow - I'm not sure I could do that calorie level with my current exercise/activity level. But I might have to give it a try and just focus on doing 2 protein shakes a day. Idk- it just sucks. Lol.

Yes it does suck! Just keep modifying and see what works. Best of luck!
