I'm not much of a salt person at all.. not because I can't have but I just don't really care for it anymore lol

This could be part of your problem. Try salting your food as you cook it, don't add it after the fact. Salting your meat before cooking is especially good. My husband claims to not like salt, he'll never, ever add it to his food, but he loves my cooking, and I salt virtually everything. It's part of the cooking process to get a superior end product.

I agree with this...If food tastes like nothing, it is lacking salt. So unless you have health reasons to eat salt free, use it while cooking and everything will taste better. Also Butter is the best thing... I cook everything on butter :D and it is not problematic even on my 1200 kcal diet.

Yes! Cook with a little salt because the chemical reaction of cooking (adding heat) changes things and truly elevates flavor without it tasting salty. Try to use high quality Himalayan salt because it still has most of its minerals intact unlike traditional Morton's salt. And a little goes a long way! I have a small bottle in my kitchen and I bought it a year ago ...

At the risk of offending someone, I have found that recipes of vegans/vegetarians are very helpful in spicing up ones diet. Those recipes use herbs and spices very well. Just take their recipes and add meat.

I find this to be true as well. Try the dish without meat, too - great way to add more veg in your diet if you need it.

I've found some great ways to prepare tofu through those sites. I eat meat, but I like having lots of options for things to prepare.

I've done this as well, meatless dishes.

Why limit yourself to what others think taste good? A basic collection of single herbs and spices goes a long way to flavoring a lot of things and you can do it to your preference. I have been told to stick to the "rule of 3" when seasoning a dish. Smell your herbs and spices and pick 3 that, combined, smell like something you would want to eat that day, then use them.

you don't have to but for the lazy cook such as myself, i like the flavors and i don't have to do the work or buy the ingredients.
i can and do my own sometimes but otherwise, meh, premade spice mix

Fat makes things tasty. The thing is a little will go a long way. Using half or a quarter of the butter that would normally be used will add some of that flavor back without having the calories go too high.

Sometimes small changes in how something is prepared can dramatically change it's flavors. For example sauteing broccoli in a small amount of olive oil, squeezing a bit of fresh lemon, and then a bit of salt and pepper makes it taste much better than just steaming it without adding many calories. Roasting brussels sprouts with just a slice or two of crumbled apple wood smoked bacon is also a winner. These kind of things do add just a bit of fat and calories; but they are well worth it. It's VERY HARD to stick to a tasteless diet!

Some great suggestions here! Just a couple points I'll echo - definitely try out some new cooking methods! I absolutely hate steamed veggies but love anything sauteed or roasted, there's just so much more flavor that comes out! Also, I throw garlic in pretty much everything, I get the large jars of diced garlic and just throw a spoonful into anything and everything I can

Consider spending some extra time in the spice and marinade aisles next time you're shopping. There are always great low cal marinades/dressings you can use to add some nice flavor to bland chicken or veggies. There are also some great spice combinations in the ethnic food aisle (furikake seasoning, curry powder,etc.). Don't be afraid to try new flavor combinations! Good luck!

Hey guys while in trying to eat better I've cut out a lot of the stuff I used to use (mainly butter) now everything seems to lack any flavor. . Any recommendations or advice would be great!
