I was asked today why I'm on this journey. It made me think...
I'm a mom to one 5 year old boy and currently juggling a home, a family, this journey, and work.
I saw MFP back in 2012 while I was looking for a calorie counter in the Android App Store. I lost 30 pounds that Spring. Since then I started working full time and have successfully completed a few semesters.
I've gained that weight back and 30 more on top. Am I mad? I was. But I've realized why I can't seem to get back on the groove. I was depressed. Who wouldn't be? I dropped out of college to help pay bills, several times. Knowing that college is the way out.
I was physically abused and kept a secret for 3 years. Still working on that relationship for my child. He still tries to control what I do, who I talk to, and my educational goals.
My goals are to lose a 110 pounds. I may readjust as I go because I don't want to focus on a number on the scale. I want to learn and adapt a fit, athletic, and healthy lifestyle. Aside from vanity reasons, my career choice will need me to be fit. My educational goals are to receive my associate's degree in criminal justice so I can qualify for Police Academy. Let's face it there are some fat cops, but I want to do my very best.
My depression and abuse have taught me to be strong. Because this is just today. I'm a beautiful, smart, sassy and worth the fight for a happier tomorrow.
These are my demons that have held me back.
Sorry for the Rant. I want to exhale and get it off of my chest.

Good deal. Air that out. First step to defeating a demon is to acknowledge they exist.

I relate to you in a few ways. Stay strong. And you took a big step by admitting the depression. You can do it! Good luck on your weight loss and on your education.0
