    Our Yorkie cross cruises through 8 mile cross country hikes but he is used to regular walks of 3 miles plus. A dog may not be overweight but can still be unfit if this is a new activity for them are they are not used to regular walks of any length.

    Consider also that there could be some dehydration/heat exhaustion going on. Shedding heat is something people are very good at and dogs aren't.

    She's a Chihuahua... not an elephant. lol. Carry her if she seems tired.

    I have a cattle dog, and i'm pretty sure it is impossible to ever out walk him... he is more or less designed to go all day.

    Make sure you bring a lot of water for her.
