Numb Fingers After Walking?

Does anyone know how to stop this from happening? Every time I go for a walk my fingers get stiff and numb. This has been happening since I was a teenager, and I had hoped that once I got used to exercising more often, itd go away?

Whenever I walk or run for a while, my hands swell up and also feel somewhat numb. My boyfriend also has this problem, and he asked his doctor about it, and the doctor said it's just something that happens with certain people, the blood pools in their hands, and it's not related to any particular malady. Holding your hands up above your heart will help the sensation subside. So maybe when you're walking, try keeping your hands up (pump your arms or whatever) and that may help. That's what I do.

Try not letting your arms kind of dangle, see if that helps. I notice when I bring them up my hands dont get tingly or as swollen.

I find the same thing with my hands. They get very swollen and I can't move my rings around, let alone try and take them off, at least an hour after I go for my walks. It's definitely normal - I'll try moving my arms more as well and report back lol!

Yes, it happens to me any time I'm in a place where the weather is a little cooler (like out walking or even in a really air conditioned place) and I'm not moving my hands/arms a lot. (By "a lot" I mean gesticulating madly to a friend, just swinging my arms doesn't help.) My fingers can turn white from lack of blood flow and when I get home and run warm water over them they tingle and turn purple before becoming normal again. I think it's Raynaud's.

I recommend always wearing gloves or mittens and if you're in a cold place in the winters then invest in hand warmers to keep your fingers from getting cold and stiff. In an emergency I put my arms inside my zipped jacket and cross my arms over my chest so I can stick my hands into my armpits!

I have Raynaud's, too. If it happens when there is a temperature change I'd look into it, OP.

My fingers swell on walks and hikes, and I've found either holding my hands above my waist or holding something in each hand helps a lot. If I'm jogging, my hands are already up there, so it's not as much of an issue. If I'm walking, I like to hold my phone in one hand and a good sized flashlight (not huge or anything) or something similar in the other. Maybe a smaller water bottle, but mine's pretty big so it doesn't work as well. Clenching my fists works sometimes as well.
