Being held accountable

I just participated in a friendly 2 month competition to lose weight and I lost 16 lbs. I felt accountable during that time. I wish I were internally motivated more than externally.

My partner is wise and doesn't comment on my weight. I want to organize something but I am unsure.

I'm 5'8" and about 200 lbs. I'm hoping to lose 30 more lbs and am going to physical therapy for hip bursitis and hernia. Has anyone gone from being extrinsically motivated to intrinsically? Thank you for your time.

I feel like a similar change is in the process of happening to me right now, slowly but surely. I started because after feeling unhappy with being fat for the first time in my life, I weighed myself, and the number on the scale was so far above what I thought it would be that it kind of jumpstarted the desire and motivation to lose weight. Now though, it's not so much displeasure with my body that keeps me going, it's the idea of the challenge; trying to keep going with it for as long as I can. Find something you enjoy about the process of losing weight that's other than results, and I'm sure you'll find the whole process to be a lot easier than you might imagine it could be!
