Bananas = avoid?

Hi,

I'm thinking of eating a protein shake every day this week after my workout.

The place I order the shake from puts a banana in it before they blend it up. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to tell them to skip the banana? It has 105 calories and 27g carbs which I don't really seem to need, I'd rather be able to eat some extra chicken or fish later in the day.

So, is the fiber/potassium/vitamin content of the banana worth the tradeoff in carbs in calories for someone who is trying to eat about 1500 calories per day while maintaining lean body mass?

    Two things, why not make your own?

    and don't eat the banana if you don't like it. Don't eat it if you don't need it. It's 105 calories.

    I think this just comes down to personal choice. Do you like the banana in the shake? Are it's calories and carbs worth the deliciousness of the banana in that shake TO YOU. Me personally, I need the potassium, especially on days I run. But you can get even more potassium from other fruits/veggies. I make my own shakes so I can cater the shake to whatever supplements/macros I need and know I'm not going to get the rest of the day. Hope this helps

    I am in New York on a business trip and am staying in a hotel. Their gym has one of those smoothie bars which is where I'm getting the shake. At home I usually don't drink shakes at all, preferring to eat about half a pound of chicken breast after workouts instead.

    Fair reason, although to be honest, making your own is still easy. Protein powder + blender bottle.

    Being in NY though, I'm sure you can get some awesome things.
