Buy a food scale. Plan out your meals, weigh your solid foods and measure caloric liquids. Log everything. Being mindful of what you are eating, seeing your portions and what the actual sizes are that equal the calories you should be eating is very helpful.
If feeling full without bingeing is an issue, find foods that work for you to help you feel full longer. For many people, this will be lean proteins and fats. When you don't feel hungry between meals, it will be easier to resist snacking.
If you have foods that you have a hard time avoiding eating even when you aren't hungry or have measured them out, don't have them in the house. When you want to eat them once in a while, leave the house, buy a single portion, and take your time enjoying it. Then log it.
Always stick to your calorie goal, but if you do have a day where you slip up and go over, forgive yourself and move on. You'll do fine the next day and just keep on going.

Planning helps a lot. Plus I end up eating a lot of the same foods over and over because it's easy. And I like them. I have the same breakfast almost every day. ..and one of 3 or 4 different lunches...almond stick to similar suppers...just cause it's easy for me. Lol

That's pretty much how it is for me too. Same thing over and over again and I feel like I'm not getting any closer to my goals

Have simple and low-calorie back-ups: something ready to eat, or ready to cook (frozen) which will not take much time, but will not have too many calories...

Meal planning is key! Also, maybe try involving the kids in some physical activity with you? Good for both of you and you get the benefits of the exercise!
