Trying to get back on the wagon

Hello all,
I fell off the mfp wagon over a year ago so I am getting started again. With some weight yo-yoing and medical conditions in the intervening time I am back to where I was in Nov 2014 but still have a long way to go though depending on what and where I read it probably another 4.5st but I am more focused now. I have started logging again and am trying to make sure I am in deficit. I have been out walking 5m everyday bar 4 this year and starting to feel better for it but I am looking to add a bit of strength training and my brother is very into Kettlebells and recommends this as an all round workout. Would this be a good addition to my regime? many thanks for reading.
