Help with Determining Caloric intake

Hello,

I find it quite easy to tally up my calories when it is a single item. i.e. a lean cuisine meal, an apple etc. But how do you determine how many calories you consumed when the meal is let's say lasagna or a casserole or any type of meal when the ingredients are mixed together. It can be real easy to underestimate the calories consumed.

if you are making the lasagna or casserole then you can weigh each individual ingredient, prepare it, and then weigh the entire meal, so you know how many grams a serving size is. I only do this when cooking for myself, if I'm having people for dinner, I do more of a guesstimation with each ingredient and try to "quick add" one or two hundred calories presuming I've gone light.

There are lots of ways and options to do this, but the more you weigh your individual foods, the better idea you'll have of how calories come together in general, and the better able you will be to eyeball things.
