hi, i am 70+ years old. Much of my life I have been overweight. When I pack on the pounds, I swell and come down with allergies and hurt all over. I recognize I use food as self medication in times of emotional stress (i've had quite a few). Last year I discovered My Fitness and lost 55 pounds and felt great. Unfortunately I have gained 35 lbs back in the last 3 months because of giving into stress. I also have an under active thyroid (take meds) and have Chronic Fatique Syndrome (verified by Epstein Barr levels)-all symptoms of which are negated when I get down to 158 lbs (size 12, comfortable for me). I am beginning again to take control of my life and will lose the 35 lbs using the calorie counter here and use my tread mill (now dusty lol). As a point of interest, my Mother told me after change of life I'd gain weight. Poor Momma, after my change I got thinner than ever because I felt better than ever without the monthly menses and fears of getting pregnant. Of course, some women do have a hormonal change causing weight gain - do see a doctor in that instance, maybe they can help.
I am writing this post in the hopes it will assist someone else. I never thought I lose the weight and become so healthy at 70+. Don't say "can't", say "I will" and you will be healthier inside and out.
Best to all,
"I Will!"
