Suggestions for my diary.

Background: 25/f, 215ish lbs, 5'5''. Looking to lose 50-80 lbs. Exercise: 3-4 days of walking, and just light activity around the house like house work.

I was wondering if someone can nit pick my food diary, and offer up any suggestions or recipes that they may have. I'm trying to up my calories to 1400-1500 this week to see if it will help with feeling hungry all the time and sluggish. Thank you!

Weigh everything with scales, not cups

Thank you all. Do you guys still weigh even though a package will tell you how many cups, etc is in a serving? Or is it more accurate just weighing it?

If there's 10 cups in a package, you must weigh out every "cup" you measure because all sorts of different amounts can fit in a cup. A 1/2 cup of dry rice could be 60g, 80g or even 90g and the same kind of thing happens with any foods. Same as 1 apple can weigh 50g more than another apple that looks to be the same size.

For eggs I see you put scrambled eggs - 2 eggs 44 g... Seems too little to me. I always though my eggs were not very big but it turns out they are 53-58 g hard boiled (and entry in MFP for large equals 50 g). Would be careful with those. Digital scale is the best tool you can use for weight loss.

Also I'm on 1200 kcal diet if you want to look at my diary.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm new at this but really want to stick to this. I'll pick up a scale this week.

Packages lie! I buy this chili that says it contains "about two servings." It's usually closer to 1.4 servings in a can. Similarly, a single serving package of something may actually contain more than a single serving.. usually not by a lot, but it happens.

I only looked at a few days of your diary, but I'd say maybe replace the soda and sweet tea with something more nutritious and filling. That said, I think it's really important to make room for treats, so if those are yours and they're not getting in the way, keep them. The food scale will make such a difference, and after a while you'll get a better sense of portion sizes, which will be really helpful when your find yourself without the scale!

I'm slowly trying to get rid of my pop habit. I use to drink so much that its disgusting looking back at it. I'm hoping by the end of this week to get rid of the soda, and have unsweetened tea. I'm definitely going to try out the food scale, I didn't know that packages can be that off. Learn something new everyday lol.

Awesome! I think the slower the change the more likely it'll stick. Good luck!
