Hey, I was just curious if there's a timeline of how long you keep your running shoes? I've had mine for a year in September or so and while I do love them, I'm thinking about changing them out cause they're not very comfortable right now, but for the future, I was just curious if there was an average time span. I think I read somewhere every six months, but not totally sure on that?
Thanks
Thanks

General rule is every 6 months / every 500 miles run0

Depends on how much running you're doing and your weight. A rule of thumb is about every 300 to 500 miles (fewer miles if you're heavier - the misdole cushioning breaks down more quickly)0

My advice in this matter as in so many other is this: Listen to your body. I finally retired a pair of running shoes just over a year ago with over 850 miles on them - that's 850 miles of running. I have another pair that I haven't offically retired, but doubt I will ever wear them to run again, and they only have 320 miles. Watch the wear patterns - make sure that a side of the sole doesn't collapse and leave you running on the side/edge of the shoe, but above all, toss them if they start feeling uncomfortable, giving you blisters, etc. I also highly recommend having at least two pair of running shoes and alternating workouts with them.0

Like txbandman, I go by feel more than anything else. When a pair of shoes is ready to be retired my feet will have a slight achiness to them after a run.0
