I need to try something else to stop overeating.

Today was my fresh start, my "day 1" of this 100 day challenge to stick to my own goals. I was doing great all day, ate smaller, healthier meals that also taste good... but as soon as I get bored or something i automatically go for snacks. Chocolate and sweets and all of the above until my stomach is full even if I wasnt even hungry in the first place! I am so ridiculous, i want and need to stick to my goals or ill never see results. I just don't know what else to try that will help me, any other people in the same boat?

Every Sunday, I prep a huge fruit salad. If I start to feel peckish or bored throughout the week, I will just eat that. For me, I had to stop thinking about what I thought I wanted and just feed myself something healthier. Once you've done it for a while, the cravings will lessen0

It's HABITUAL BEHAVIOR that needs to be addressed. Why are you bored? Best way to fix that is finding something that keeps your interest other than food. IF that's what you really want to fix, you'll fix it. If not, then you'll continue with the current behavior you have.

Totally agree with Ninerbuff, habit and self discipline, what do you want more?!
I would suggest a few things -
Try making it a 10 day challenge;
When you feel like a snack brush your teeth or drink a glass of water;
Get rid of the temptations in the house and put in good snacks - like HStheBusyBee suggests - prep fruit or a good salad - carrot, tomato/cucumber salad etc...my go to snack is almonds.

Another vote for changing your habits. Take up a hobby, go for a walk. Find something to do that will hold your focus when you get bored.
ETA: I know that sounds easier than it actually is. It takes time and practice to change your habits. It took me two years to learn to have ice cream in the house without sitting down with the pint and a spoon.0 -
I feel like i already had the answer in mind, it always comes down to self discipline, which I need to work harder on. I will buy healthier snack alternatives and try not to resort to eating unless I am infact hungry. Just getting feedback helps alot though! I want to make healthy a habit. Thank you all!0

I bought some fruit flavoured teas recently (about 8 cals each though I don't bother logging them - terrible, I know!) They aren't super sweet but they smell nice and as they are hot they take a while for me to drink which distracts me from boredom eating for a while.
I've also started crocheting again, but when it's 40C, its really too hot to be covered in a pile of wooly stuff. I'll get back to that soon once the autumn finally starts to feel like autumn not high summer.
These aren't perfect solutions, but are baby steps towards better habits. This isn't something that is going away in a short time, I'm nearly 50 and still eat too much junk when I'm on my own (husband works away for four weeks at a time) or when I'm bored or sad. Good on you for getting into good habits when you are so young, I wish I had done that!0
