Medical Weight Management

I am 37 years old and have approximately 150 lbs to lose total. I am participating in a medical weight management program. The program is supervised by a physician, mental health therapist, and a dietitian. The goal is <40 grams of Carbs per day and between 900-1000 calories.
I participated in this program in 2011. I lost almost 60 lbs during the 12 week program. Shortly after the program was over I had an emergency appendectomy and was at home for a week by myself, reliant on others for food. The OLD habits returned. I then became the caregiver to my mom for 3 years and have been on an emotional roller coaster since then.
I had a health scare in January and that set my priorities straight. I was desperate for structured program with clearly defined rules to follow.
I've been in the program since Feb 19 and have lost 22.5 lbs. I am struggling with keeping the momentum going. Exercise is not possible at this point due to health issues.

It sounds like the whole process is bringing back that roller coaster you have experienced since the last time. Have you talked to your therapist about that?
Does the program offer any group therapy?
Honestly, one thing that keeps my momentum up is just reading about weight loss and reading these forums.
Since you are about a third of the way through the program, now is a good time to start your plan for when the program is over. What will be your sources of support then? What kind of dietary guidelines would be most beneficial in light of your health issues? Will you be able to start an exercise program?
22 lbs. In a month is pretty impressive, even for this kind of program!0 -
Thank you for your comment Concordancia. I see the therapist on Friday, not sure what I should really say. She knows I'm an emotional eater. Basically she says I have to learn to control myself. I've done well with that so far. I haven't binged, nor have I hidden any food. I have been completely honest and logged every calorie! I feel like I already know what I need to do...I just need motivation to keep going and the program isn't really offering that to me.
They only have group therapy for patients who are participating in the bariatric surgery programs.0
