Difficult BMs even with high fiber and lots of water?

Hey guys, I'm new this this, but I created an account just to try and figure out what's wrong with me. My main problem is i'm just not regular when it comes to having a BM. When i was trying to bulk up, it wouldn't surprise me if i had gone 3 or 4 times a day, but since i've started to cut, I'm lucky to go 3 times a week. I eat at least 30 grams of dietary fiber a day. I also drink a gallon of water a day, but no luck in the bathroom. I've had these bouts of constipation since I began to drop weight a few months ago. I really don't feel bloated or constipated or anything. I feel fine, it's just kind of concerning going from multiple times a day, to a few times a week.

Not enough volume to push through. A few times a week is perfectly fine. Fiber by the way can have the opposite effect if added too suddenly. Try more soluble fibers, adding a tablespoon of fat, and dry popcorn (not all at once).

BTW, protein powders have a binding effect on me.

My first question is how many calories are you eating a day? Some people cut too many calories, and their body becomes catabolic. It depends on the person and on their activity level, but as a round-about number you are supposed to maintain a daily diet of at least 1200 calories. Otherwise you are training your body to go into drought mode. Your body acts as though it is starving and leeches onto anything you ingest and doesn't let it go because it doesn't know when it will obtain a sufficient amount of nutrients. My best guess is that you are trying to rush your weight loss goals. Eating less than the apps targeted amount is not beneficial. It will actually train your metabolism to slow down, which will make your body retain much more than it normally would once you up your calories once again. Never eat under 1200 calories. You will train your body to get fat.

Are you eating enough fats and oils?

Less in = less out , if you are not having trouble passing , just not passing often I would not be too concerned. Make sure you have both kinds of fibre in balance , water and fats in a reasonable amount.
Bulking will create more waste than maintaining or cutting I find .

SImple fix - Take magnesium citrate capsule twice a day, morning and night. Might even want to start with 3/day to help get thngs moving quicker! :)

Yeah, this was a side effect I didn't expect either.

Most of the time it is OK. If things do get uncomfortable, I find that higher fat food (like pizza) gets things going. Because I cycle long distances on weekends, I can fit small pizzas into my calorie limit a couple times a month, and that seems to do the trick.

    This.

A little bit of mineral oil goes a long way as well. But check your diet first

When I first changed my eating the same thing happened. When I added some avocado to my diet, and some extra veggies, it helped make me more regular.
