A Question for Personal Trainers

Hello
How do Personal trainers get paid...
I know there is the client based hourly rate (self employed route) but when hired by a gym how does it work.
Can you earn a £20k a year salary and still see clients in your own time etc... I want to work for/in a gym if possible, but not on the basis of not having a confirmed salary.

There are different situations. Usually you either are employed by a gym, and get paid by them, or are self employed and either train out of a private gym, or pay gyms a monthly fee or percentage of your fees to train people in their gym and in exchange they steer people your way.0
