What are you looking for in a fitness device?

Do you want something track runs? Just to track steps? To help you develop your daily TDEE needs? Do you need social reinforcement?

Well, get a $10 pedometer from K-mart, to be honest, and you'll probably be happy with that.

Do you desire long-term tracking? Do you desire to do data analysis of any sort (Compare to others)?

I have the fitbit charge HR. . I am very pleased with it. It syncs right up with MFP. It automatically adds my exercise calories to MFP. And when I log my food in MFP it automatically syncs with the fitbit app on my phone.

Ah! So you need more than just something that will count steps!

(See why I asked all of that)

So, you want something that can link to this app, track activity (Steps)... Anything else? Underarmor actually has their own device (Whole suite, actually, the HealthBox), and I'm sure it's guaranteed to work flawlessly with this app (Same company).

Do you want the device to be waterproof/sweatproof? If so, I'd recommend the Garmin Vivosmart line.

I've got a Jawbone UP, they were a bit cheaper than the Fitbits. it tracks steps and sleep. Syncs with MFP for steps and also food (I log with MFP and it shows on my UP, it doesn't seem to work too well the other way - I think it's database is not UK based). If you do exercise other than walking it will only register that you've 'been active' although you can then log your activity type. I guess that's why it's cheaper!

I've done some digging, my step counter on my phone is hopeless and like you I can't carry my phone at work.. In the end I settled on an XIAOMI MI Band 1S Pulse, just under £20 from Amazon.
It has some fab reviews and comparisons among the reviews against other more pricey ones.
It will link with Google Fit, and works with Android and IOS, I will let you know when I get my hands on it if it work with this app.. it's due to land Iver the next couple of days, worth a look if you want something simple.
