MFP exercise calories lower than HRM

I keep reading how MFP way overestimates exercise calories, and people keep recommending to eat back 50-75%. I recently got a HRM and have been using it for cardio, which for me is biking and fast walking. But my HRM calorie estimates are significantly higher than MFP's, which seems to be a different experience than the general population on this site.
I understand I'll have to make adjustments along the way, so I'm looking to see how other people handle this situation, to give me a starting point.
Does this happen to anyone else? Which number do you use? Lower, higher, split the difference?

I have had that happen at times. I use a chest strap heart rate monitor, and I always log the amount of calories my heart rate monitor says. Now if your HRM is a Fitbit worn on the wrist, I would use the MFP calories. I have read that Fitbit are not accurate at calculating heart rates when the heart rate is elevated (during cardio exercise).0
