Hey All-
I am 47 years old and just getting into weight lifting from home. I have done Hammer & Chisel, 21 day fix and realized I love weight lifting. I just calculated the Body Beast calories for me (5' 1" 170 lbs) and it says to eat 2143 calories per day!!!! This scares the crap out of me as I am trying to lose weight and normally eat 1200 calories per day. Any advice or peeps out there with knowledge of weight for women?

Gaining muscle and loosing fat aren't compatible. Best to keep on the lower calorie level to keep dropping weight until you hit your goal. Once you are there you can add calories and start adding muscle.
Lifting is still great exercise while you are dropping weight.0 -
I would use MFP calculations or a TDEE calculator to figure out your calorie goal.
First, how much fat/weight do you have to lose? If it's not much, just set MFP to lose .5 lbs per week. You probably don't need to be or want to be eating 1200 calories. The higher the calories, the slower you lose, the more progressive overload of a strength training program coupled with appropriate protein intake--the more muscle you save.
I'm not editing that last sentence even though it's horrible.0 -
