Should I track my pedometer steps on MFP and wear the band while I exercise?

Hello,
I have a question should I add my pedometer steps to MFP as exercise. I just use it as a way to motivate myself to stay active thoughout the day on top of exercising. (I don't where it when run, only when I start the day after my morning exercise.) My friend suggested I wear it when I'm exercising and add the steps here. What do you think, how do you use your pedometer? By the way it's not a Fitbit lol
