How much water should i drink?

I am trying to figure out how much water I should actually be drinking. I use to drink 4 liters a day when i was exercising before I hurt my neck and gained all my weight back. I looked online and it says a few things
1. 8 8 ounce glasses which is 2 liters.
2. Half your body weight in ounces which for me would be almost 6 liters I know no one needs that much.
I was wondering if members can help me get a better understanding of it. Thanks

Just drink enough to not be thirsty.0

You're overthinking it. The "rules" about water consumption are arbitrary and completely made-up.
Drink to stay hydrated, that's all you have to worry about. Pale/almost clear/straw-colored urine? You're good to go. If it's darker than that, you need more fluids.
And it doesn't have to just be water. Water is great, cheap, and no calories, but other fluids can count towards your hydration also, such as tea, milk, juice, soda, etc.

Just make sure you account for any calories in the fluids that you consume.0 -

This is bad advice. You should drink around 2 litres per day.0 -

Really? Is that on top of the other 70oz of liquid I drink every day?0 -
I shoot for a gallon a day. I will sometimes go over if I lose like 4 pounds of weight in 8 hours due to sweating.
Yes water can be toxic and kill a person.0 -

He's right though. There is no reason to drink lots of water. You get water from foods and other drinks too. Drinking too much water is not good either.0 -

Yes it is. It is recommended that you keep yourself hydrated. Thirsty does not equal dehydrated....0 -
