Calories in a margarita

I want to go out and have a margarita on the rocks no salt. How do I really estimate the calories? In the database it's 150-550 calories. ? What would make it so high?

Generally the sweet and sour mix is what makes the calories so high. I love me a good margarita so I've learned to order them either "VERY light on the sweet and sour mix" or I order silver tequila on the rocks with soda water and lime and then I carry the little packets of Crystal Light lemonade with me and mix one of those in. No added calories and sugar that way. Just the calories from the tequila.0

A margarita is a sweetened drink. Any drink that has something like simple syrup or sweet and sour mix is going to tend to have more calories. The variation will come from the size -- do you know what size margarita you are going to order? Is it a small one with a few ounces of alcohol or is it one of those giant punch bowls?0

Sugar! Alcohol! Both these have calories.
The mix is generally high in sugar, as is the tequila and triple sec depending on what you're having.
Look at the ingredient list (if you're eating out) and try to calculate it that way.0 -
If they have a skinny option then it's usually with a sugar free sours mix and pretty good tasting. That is most likely the lower calorie listing you see in the database.0

Those calories are also varying based on serving size. I know when I go to my local Mexican restaurant I can order a tiny margarita, a regular margarita, or a jumbo, which is as big as my head. I am always fascinated by the people who order the noggin-sized margaritas.0
