So ill

It's not my thing to whine about being ill as generally I'm over the general illness bugs in 24hrs. Well 4 days ago I came down with a terrible chest infection and cough, add into the mix 3X 12 hour working days back to back and I'm flawed. I feel terrible and my appetite is so small. (For once lol) but it's not healthy. The app is reminding me I'm not eating enough but I feel so poorly when I do eat. So I've been turning to fresh apple juice and yogurts, though I'm not really a huge fan. Could you nice people throw me some suggestions for some energy packed snacks to help get me back to fitness? Because I'm shattered and I know it's this awful infection kicking my *kitten*! Thanks!

Maybe just some peanut butter (if you're not allergic). It's packed with calories and nutrition, and delicious to boot. If you feel up to it, maybe spread it onto some apple slices to get in some fiber, water and carbs. You might also try eggs, they tend to be soft and easy on the stomach if that's been the issue. Also very nutritious and just what you need to fuel your recovery. Don't be afraid to go for pretty rich foods right now, it sounds like you're having trouble getting enough calories and stimulating your appetite.0

I know how you feel /: Although it isn't as bad as a chest infection, I got the flu then a really bad fever. It's taken me about five days to recover, and not being able to eat as much (or as healthily-I couldn't stomach very much) was killing me.
Things like almonds, avocados, oatmeal, bananas, and peanut butter are packed with healthy fats and carbs (energy!). Have you ever tried protein shakes?
Hope you feel better soon!!0 -
Sorry to hear that you've been ill too. Hope you're all good now mkdragon.
I'm liking the sound of the Almonds and the shakes are a great idea which I haven't tried but will. Thank you! ☺️0 -
Thanks Essterne! Peanut butter is actually one of my favs and something else I hadn't thought of. ☺️☺️0

Yes peanut butter, oatmeal, oatmeal(with peanut butter),
lots of vegetables; red peppers, carrots, green beans, even frozen veggies are good and easy to microwave; corn, peas, broccoli, mixed vegetables
lots of fruits; grape fruits, any berries, or any nuts are good and even eggs.
I hope you feel well soon!0 -
Thanks Natural Nancy!0

I'm a severe asthmatic and am prone to chest infections and I tend to eat chicken noodle soup and tea evert meal. It's nutrient rich, and the humidity of the warm beverages eases the cough and loosens up the *kitten* in your lungs.0

Ugh. I am still getting over an upper respiratory infection, so I feel your pain.
Don't stress too much about how much you are eating. Focus more on your hydration and rest. Your appetite will return.0 -
It's that time of year. I've had the opposite problem of over-eating on really unhealthy foods because I did not feel like cooking nor caring. Now, I am trying to get back into the swing of things. Peanut butter is a good one as well as nutrition/energy bars. Hope you feel better soon!0
