Eating before going to bed - after working night shift

Hi all!
Quick question - since calories in vs. calories out is what matters, does it matter when I eat my calories?
I am a night shift nurse and I work 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. three days a week. I eat a small breakfast (about 350 calories) when I get home from work around 8:00 a.m. Am I stalling any progress by eating shortly before I sleep? I am still at or slightly under my calorie goal for the day.
I do not sleep well when I go to bed hungry...
Thoughts?

Meal timing has nothing to do with weight loss. Please eat before bed! It sucks trying to sleep on an empty stomach.0

I am a nurse and I work the same schedule... I can't sleep with an empty belly either.. I'm usually too tired for anything too involved so I usually eat a Greek yogurt with granola and a fruit before bed.0

I nearly always have a pretty good sized snack before bed. If you are prone to acid reflux, you might want to be careful with snack choices, but other than that, I agree with everything said by the other commenters.0

Meal timing is absolutely irrelevant for weight loss, as long as you maintain a calorie deficit!0

Your system works the same way when you're asleep or awake! Don't worry about it!0

I eat right before bed sometimes (when I get home really late and eat after). Doesn't matter so long as it doesn't interfere with your sleep.0

Also do nights. I Always eat something in mornings though keep it light (though sometimes I visit gym on way home). I end up waking up hungry after about three hours if I don't eat.0

Thanks everyone for sharing and confirming what I already though - focus on eating at a deficit and all will be fine!0
