Medical Back braces

So "backbrace" and "back brace" yielded just 1 thread in the search, odd...

Been a while since I've been on the site again. 6 years ago I injured my back (mild L5-SI1 disc bulge) which forced me to stop lifting and running/elliptical.

Right now the only exercise I get is walking about 15 miles per week. Frankly, my upper body is becoming weak and it's getting harder to carry common household items (ie: trash bag, coolers, boxes of soda, etc). I would like to (very slowly) get back into the weightroom and at least get some light reps in. Obviously I don't want to hurt myself.

Is there a particular brand / model of back brace you like? Would something like the traditional Mueller flex steel spring type suffice?

Thanks

I suffer with back problems following a slipped disc years ago. I occasionally wear an ordinary back brace when it's very bad, but I try not to wear it too much as I loose core strength. I've run for years too and generally my back doesn't stop me doing that. The end of last year I took up Kettlebells to build up my core strength and it's made a huge difference, I seem to have had a spell where my back isn't bothering me at all now. I just have to be super aware of keeping the correct form and keeping my back straight. I don't really think my answer helps much but didn't like to scroll by with no reply!

when i had bad back problems, buldging disc, siatica etc. i would wear a medical corset and it was awesome, laced up tight it gave me the support i needed and took away the pain. it was kinda like this one. It didn't help me gain core strength because it acted like my core strength, but it allowed me to do other things like live pain free
