I just can't stop drinking this diet cola. Bought 2 litres of the stuff about 30 minutes ago. Already downed a third and can't stop! :D

So drink it. There's no sugar in diet soda.

I wouldn't say addictive but sugary drinks makes me more dehydrated and thirsty which causes me to drink more. I stopped drinking sugary drinks 15 years ago and stick to plain water. I am not thirsty and I can taste the flavors of my foods way better. Now wine on the other hand is a different story! LOL!

Caffeine is the other addictive ingredient. I know, I am a caffeine addict - diet soda, coffee, Crystal Light Energy packets. I needz it.

:D That's interesting. Does sugar lead to dehydration in general then? That might explain why people end up drinking more sugary fizzy drinks. I suppose one problem with fizzy drinks is the amount of salt in them which definitely leads to dehydration. The sugar masks the salt!

    Maybe that's why I can't stop.

No sugar does not lead to dehydration. There is also not much sodium (salt) in regular or diet soda. A can of Coke has only 45mg of sodium. Neither regular nor diet soda lead to dehydration.

Not true, I can stop drinking coffee any time I want! (I just don't want.)

    Heh.

I really do love coffee a little too much. It's only partially the caffeine. It's mostly that it's the perfect beverage.

I am not saying it causes dehydration. I am saying that I feel dehydrated and my thirst is never quenched when drinking sugary drinks. What causes this I am not sure. I just don't drink it.
