Weight lifting question

Is it better to do 1 super intense day with lots of different things or 2 days of half the amount of reps? Right now I do 1 leg day a week super intense, but most of the fitness people I watch do a lot less on their leg days. I'm wondering if cutting my leg day in half and doing it on 2 seperate days would be more effective??? Any advice?

Personally I would pick a well known program and follow it. Some lifting programs that I know of:

-Stronglifts 5x5 (free plus it has it's own phone app)
-Ice Cream Fitness 5x5 (very similar to strong lifts with added lifts to it)
-New Rules of Lifting for Women
    -Strong Curves
    -Starting Strength

Bodybuilding.com also has free programs that you can look into.

I am currently doing Stronglifts (working my way back up in weight after a several month break). It is 3 workouts a week in an ABA BAB style. I was doing Ice Cream Fitness (personally I like it better), but my husband has been complaining about the time it takes just for me to get through it so for now I'm just doing stronglifts.

Maximum benefit for a beginner would be a 3 days/week full body routine. The above programs are all excellent. You might also want to check out All Pro and Fierce 5, both from bodybuilding.com

Google Dan John. He has some 2 day per week, full body, compound lift routines. They are very basic but very effective.

It sounds like you'd be better off running a structured program like one @shadow2soul mentioned.

You're going to benefit most from doing a structured program...also, "benefit" is relative to your goals.

Personally, I'm partial to 3x per week full body programming vs splits. Splits are great for more advanced lifters and those who have a particular interest in putting on mass because of the volume work...you're typically going to see more volume focused on a particular muscle or group of muscles with a split which is why body builders tend towards split programming.

STRONGLIFTS - it's structured, easy to follow, 3Xweek, short work outs, quick to see progress and therefore feel motivation........
