Creating a command centre.

A thought came to me last night that I don't need to ban myself from the computer. Instead I need to turn it into a command centre. Somewhere where I go for research, tracking, planning, etc.

So over the next week, I want to create a mini project to clean up and organize my computer desk. review software. look at the ergonomics, lighting, etc. I want to really spruce things up. Maybe even set a few rules, like no more bing eating infront of the screen.Obviously, I'm not the first person to do this.

Any tips or comments about your experience? Any words of wisdom? Anything that will take a great idea and make it awesome?

    Hi
Any self improvement action is positive.
One comment on the binge eating.
I found a while ago that I am an emotional eater. My medical insurance gave me some advice about tools to cope.
Most important is to find out why are you overeating ?
    stress ?, boredom ?, anxiety ?
for me it was the first two
I deal with them by taking another activity right away.
Am I stressed ? I exercise, even walking around the block will help
Am I bored ? I perform a manual action that will keep my hands occupied, I clean the house, or I fold the laundry, etc. Some people take knitting or crotchet.
Good luck in your Healthy journey

Personally, I find that Language helps me with things like this.

Rather than saying what I'm not doing (e.g. I'm not binge eating in front of the computer) I find it more beneficial to say what I am doing instead (e.g. I'm eating dinner at the dining room table.)

I find that this positive restructuring not only helps because it's positive and I'm less likely to punish myself for failing when I do what I'm not supposed to be doing, but it also creates a plan by default and a plan is always the first step to accomplishing something (for me).
