I tried a new yogurt on the market that has chicory root in it. 12 hours later I am having gas and diarrhea. Has this happened to anyone before. I THINK it could be the chicory root because a similar thing happened last week. Anyone have experience with this? This does not happen to me when I eat regular (no additive ) yogurt. Thanks in advance.

Chicory is a laxative (at least the types I am familiar with). So it sounds normal. Maybe it is a product aimed at people who have constipation issues?

I'm assuming you're referring to Chobani which adds inulin (from chicory) to its Simply 100 yogurt line so it can say it has fiber in them. Chobani's plain yogurt has 110 calories -- you can add your own fruit and sweeten to your taste with stevia etc. There are plenty of other ways to get fiber without having something like inulin artificially added to your yogurt by the manufacturer: "Both inulin and psyllium can cause gas and bloating." See:

It was triple zero by Dannon Oikos.

It probably is the chicory root. Some people are sensitive to it.

Yeah. I don't mind it personally because it does make me feel fuller, but I know that some people have pretty strong reactions to it.

I just started eating the triple zero too. I love it, I love the ingredients, but I think maybe it's doing the same thing to me. Haven't eaten one in a couple days but I am going to pay more attention to that now. I wonder if sometimes our bodies need to adjust to something like that and it will calm down after a few weeks.

Well maybe but I wouldn't want to go through that for a few weeks. Maybe gradually increasing the amount one eats would work.

Funny you say that...we normally buy the large container of dannon oikos (the blue vanilla one), but I couldn't find it anymore, only the large triple zero kind. My son (2 yrs old) has been having some tummy issues this week, and that's the only thing I've given him that's different!

So you're determined to continue eating something that you know contains an additive that gives you gas and diarrhea, even though there are a large number of alternatives out there that don't contain the additive and won't give you gas and diarrhea.

    Takes all kinds, I guess.

Uh no. I was suggesting that for the other poster who mentioned that it might calm down after a few weeks. No reason to be rude on here. Your last comment was rude.
