Does adding an egg into oatmeal.give it more staying power?

Usually if I have porridge it'll last me an hour and a half if lucky, I read about adding an egg to it, does this make it last longer? And how do you do this using a microwave?

I would just cook the egg separately and eat it on the side. Eggs are very easy and quick to make in the microwave. Or hard boil some eggs and have it them ready to go.

I've added an egg to my oatmeal... didn't taste much different as I add fruit to the oatmeal as well. However, when I add both egg (or protein powder) in the oatmeal plus 1tbs of fat (usually coconut oil), I find that this will last me until at least lunch. So, protein, fat and fiber is a winning combination!

IDK about the texture if putting an egg in there. Protein powder works well when stirred in while oatmeal is dry. It is also good with Greek yogurt stirred in after cooking.

So that's the combination that is filling protein fat and fibre great!

Pretty much! Oh, texture wise, what I do is cook the oatmeal half way, then beat an egg with a fork very well and add it to the oatmeal stirring for a good minute. I don't notice the egg in there if i do it that way, and I HATE egg chunks and eggy taste in oatmeal. I have added chocolate chips and even some k-cup white hot chocolate powder into my oatmeal when I don't feel like fruit.

I wondered if it tasted eggy at all as that would put me off too

FWIW I put peanut butter in my oatmeal. Protein + plant fats seems to stay with me till lunchtime. Also using PB means not adding sugar/sweetener to my oatmeal too.

You can't taste it, from experience. But I prefer some nuts and protein powder.

Maybe it's just me but I find oatmeal very filling...and I don't eat the whole portion size either. I just put a teaspoon of butter and some salt on it :)

Cook your Oatmeal with a tablespoon of soy sauce and a few squirts of Sirachi then add a fried egg and some (14 grams) cashews.

I like to put about 10-15 grams of nuts (usually almonds or pecans) in mine. Gives some added fat and a nice crunch.

Yes, it can because it adds protein and protein tends to keep you satisfied longer. But what do you end up with, scrambled egg oatmeal? I'd eat it on the side, as other suggested.

It fluffs it up, but you honestly can't taste it.

I saw a guy add two broken hard boiled eggs on top of his oats for breakfast last week. Interesting idea, I guess.

I actually grate zucchini into my oats. It gives them so much more volume and doesn't affect the texture at all. On top of that I normally add egg whites and protein powder to make it a more filling meal. The trick with adding egg whites is to add them right at the end and to stir often.

I love oatmeal with egg whites. I just cook it half way, addthe egg mixture, and put it back in the microwave to finish cooking. It doesn't taste eggy and it makes it fluffy. I usually add it into maple and brown sugar but if I only have original I will add peanut butter.

I love oatmeal with a tablespoon of butter and a dash of brown sugar. With almond or cashew milk. Yum.
