Only buy what you will use , lots of people have dust gatherers , in saying that we have one and we use it . Lots of people find good deals on second hand ones off eBay garage sales and Craig's list . The afformentioned dust gatherers for them . If you have 40 min to watch t.v you can do it while cycling

I bought one but hardly used it, to me, pedalling hard but getting nowhere (as in staying stationary) was too boring. I only got it because I am a runner but after an accident I couldn't run for a while. I wouldn't be able to run on a treadmill for the same reason though, I have to run outside and actually go somewhere, so it depends on the individual on whether you'd find staying stationary inside boring or not.

i have a spin bike and use it a lot. I watch films on my ipad when cycling which helps with the boredom factor.

Something else you may want to consider if you like cycling. Get a real bike and an indoor trainer. When the weather is good ride outside and put it on the trainer over the winter.

If you do decide to buy an exercise bike I'll second the suggestion of looking for a used one. Tons of people buy them with the best of intentions but never use them, let someone else take the depreciation. (Research new models & prices first so you can recognize a good deal when you see it, lots if people have strange ideas what their used stuff is worth)

I'd second the suggestion of a real bike with a turbo trainer.

I use Sufferfest videos to help train, but other options exist; zwift, TrainerRoad etc
