Gaining weight after intense exercise?

Has anyone noticed some weight gain the day after intense exercise (by intense I mean running a half- or a full-marathon)? Could it be all water retention, or am I eating way more than I am aware of?

It would be pretty hard to eat enough food to cause a noticeable weight gain in one day but it is very common to retain water (as part of the recovery process) after a long race.
Silly question....are you logging your food?0 -
I always seem to gain weight after ski weekends... I know I eat more on the weekends...but not by much. I still log my all my food and know I over my regular caloric target but WELL under my adjusted caloric target adjusted for the exercise. It is really frustrating.0

Oh glad to see this. I ran a half marathon yesterday and woke up 3.5 pounds heavier this morning. Very depressing.0

Yeah...intense exercise breaks down the body....fluids are retained to aid in repair.1
