Putting weight on - help!

So, I've tried this a few times and never been as 'committed' as I am this time round. After having my daughter 8 months ago, I'm getting ready to go back to work and start on a healthier lifestyle. I didn't have a great pregnancy/post-pregnancy time, and now I've overcome those things, I am ready for this.
2 weeks ago, I did a little bit of low carb and more walking than normal - I have a lower back problem that means lots of high impact stuff is out of the question - and I lost 2lbs. My diet was controlled and I felt good. Move forward to this week, the weight has gone back on. I was more active than normal last week, and although I wasnt completely no carb, I made sure I was careful with what I ate.
I know low carb isn't necessarily the answer, however I do feel better when I don't have as much bread etc... Argh!

When you start to eat lower carbs your body dosent tend to retain much water, the moment you interrupt that low carb cycle with a higher carb intake it can instantly retain water again. My thoughts are you are probably holding water weight.

Are you logging your food intake to include weighing everything you can?

You need to log everything you eat, it can be overwhelming art first but you learn so much about where you have bad eating habits. You only need to eat at calorie deficit no need to eliminate carbs. Good luck
