EXTRA CALORIES

Hi I have re started using my fitness pal after 2 years, I am hoping to lose some weight in hope that I will be able to run a bit faster. I run a lot and cant seem to loose any weight from this so I am calorie counting to make sure I am eating enough or maybe too much. Anyway I notice mfp are giving me extra calories on the days I run. I ran at lunch for 3 miles my garmin states 390 calories but mfp has given me and extra 251 stating under armour calorie adjustment. I have tried to read up but am slightly confused.

Welcome!
Calorie estimates from the apps and gadgets we use are just that: estimates. I usually enter my workouts and if there is a difference between what MFP or my running/workout app says, I use the lower of the two. Better to underestimate my burns and over estimate my calories in when logging food, too.
Unless you have a chest strap heart monitor to accurately measure your effort/exertion levels, you're just doing best guess anyway.
Some folks don't even track the calories from their workouts. They will use the app to log the exercises and enter a value of "1" just to log/track only. That way they don't worry about eating back calories they may or may not have burned.
It's all trial and error and figuring out what works best for you. Good luck!0 -
Thanks for response
I lost 2 stone a few years ago using my fitness pal, (no running) just using my daily calories. Am hoping to do the same this time around just wasn't sure what the extra cals were for.
I always track my calories form work outs in case I am having a hungry day I don't feel so bad going over my daily allowance0
