I am 55, tired of being overweight...it has gotten worse since menopause. Now I just need to kick myself out the door everyday to do stuff. Husband is not any help because he always needs sweets in the house or salt potato chips. From now on, he can eat it. He complains about his weight but doesn't do much for it. I will be doing this for me...too young to be this uncomfortable.
Would like to lose 80 pounds, but need to take it 10 at a time. I am not a patient person, I want quick fixes but this fix will be a life change
Done all done with this business

I was you 5 years ago. Had a grandchild on the way and I was fat. I am also impatient, "can I be skinny yesterday?" I started by just walking and curbing some of the crap I ate. Long story short, I am 80 pounds lighter and have actually run a 5K. It isn't always easy, but it can be done. You can do this.

I'm 53. Started MFP 2 weeks ago today. I've lost 9.8 pounds and 18"already. My total goal is 115 pounds to lose. I read a book that got me jump started called the skinny budget diet by Linda Goff. I log every crumb that goes in my mouth. You need a kitchen scale, not just a bathroom scale. Get serious about weighing and measuring your portions. Eat slower, taker smaller bites. Chew longer. It's all stuff we've heard, but most of us have ignored. Remember to exercise, or you will have lots of saggy skin as you lose the weight! I figure I'm in for a long journey, but I'm going to celebrate every pound and inch that I lose! Tell your friends and family that you are doing this. It's not a diet. Diets fail. Diets are temporary, and weight yoyos. This is a lifestyle change. My family, friends, and coworkers are cheering me on. They help by not snacking on things I can't have in front of me. They don't offer me sweets. You need a strong support system. Good luck! You can add me if you want to. I'm building my online support network.
