I recently found out I have some knee issues and I am looking for people who are suffering chronic knee pain and have to do a workaround to keep a strong lower body without affecting your knees. Hopefully I can find some people with good advice and maybe give me some support as well.

What kind of knee issues? I have sever arthritis in my left knee, very close to bone on bone. I have had 3 cortisone shots, and about a month ago, a SYNVISC shot. I don't think the SYNVISC did anything for me, it hurt more for 2-3 weeks, but I bit the bullet in November and started going to the gym. 2-3 days a week at first, now more. I ride the bike, for 20 minutes in the beginning, sometimes less if it hurt too much, and now I ride for 30 minutes. I also started doing weight machines for lower body, adduction, abduction, seated hamstring curls, and leg extensions, (which I just finally was able to do more than 10 pounds on this week without it hurting). Squats are good but I have not attempted them yet. I also stretch every time for 10-15 minutes when I'm done. I feel much better. I don't know if it's just the working out or if the shot finally helped. But I feel stronger, less pain and better flexibility.

Have you gone to PT? Talked to,anyone who can help you with an exercise plan for this? Do you work out now?
