HRM- Useless tech?

For those of you that calculate calorie burn using the 'body weight x .63 x miles run' formula, I take it over time you've found it to be accurate? For example, if you consistently eat back calories burned according to the formula, you don't gain weight?
Yes, I have. For over a year, now. And I'm short and normal weight so if there were much overestimation at all I'd know it.0 -

It's plausible, yeah. But as it's the lowest estimate* you'll find, if it wasn't accurate I'd be more likely to gradually lose weight rather than gain using it. In which case I'd have to eat more ice cream. That would be very upsetting.
*Actually, the lowest is my garmin 225 with hrm - it offers me ludicrously low amounts of calories for anything other than really slow running, so I ignore it because I'm hungry. 450 cals for 10 miles, anyone?0
