Accurate way to measure body fat %??

At my gym they do the body fat % test where you hold the machine out in front of you and it sends the current through your body.
About 3 months ago it said my body fat was 30.8%
I got it tested again last week and it said 31.5%
I have been eating better and working out a lot. I can tell my body is stronger and that there is less fat, yet it said I had a higher percentage of body fat.
I'm guessing those things aren't very accurate, anybody know a better way to test body fat percentage??
Thanks!!

DEXA scans are considered the most accurate method, I believe. They cost $40-$80 from what I've seen. Bodpod, which is a water displacement method, seems popular but I don't know how accurate it is.0

Bodpod is air displacement, claims similar accuracy to DEXA but doesn't tell you anything about fat distribution.
