Anyone with an under active thyroid have success ?

I haven't been diagnosed and I'm also going away for a few weeks so doing it just before I leave but won't get the results till the end of the month but my mum (nurse) said I should go get checked out. I checked out the NHS website and I have all but 2 common symptoms.

But I'd like to know if anyone has had any weight loss success with this condition and if so how ? (I do approx.10-12hours of cardio a week and about 2 of weights!)

I'd just like to be prepared....just incase and if it's good news, well at least I learnt something new today !

If your thyroid hormone is appropriately balanced for your body, your body will be able to burn excess fat. The hardest thing is finding a really good endocrinologist who will work with you and find out what your body needs, especially if you learn that your thyroid hormone needs to be supplemented.
My endo says "Find a balance between the numbers (in your blood work) and how you feel". She's great!

Yes, as long as your thyroid levels are in a good range, then you shouldn't have any trouble losing weight. But the ranges that a lot of doctors/labs use now are outdated, in light of new recommendations by the American Endocrinologist Society (or whatever they call themselves). You should shoot for 0.5-2.5. And if you still have symptoms, they should probably try to increase it a bit to see if it helps (some people need a little more). Also it's important to understand that the HIGHER your lab result is, the MORE you need to INCREASE your thyroid meds. The lab is an indicator that your body is trying hard to replace something that isn't there. Until you get your results back, you might try eating a coconut macaroon/day (if you do more, then it can cause constipation). When I started eating a macaroon/day (Archway Cookies) for health reasons, I was able to cut my thyroid meds in half. Coconut is supposed to be very good for your thyroid. I was able to lose all of my weight while dealing w/hypothyroidism. Once they get your levels in a good range (it can take a few months), then it should actually be easier for you than while you were not at a good range. But it's important not to get too much or it can lead to other medical problems. Excellent book on subject is "Thyroid for Dummies."
