I'm moving to Dorchester next month and, well, I'm really not seeing much in the way of decent gyms in the area. I'm living near Shawmut station and will takr the red line downtown to work. I'd rather not have to go the BSC Downtown route if I can avoid it.

I've been so spoiled by this awesome locally owned gym in Cambridge where I never have to wait for a squat rack, the men are respectful, and the lights are flattering. Any advice would be great :flowerforyou:

  • Golds in Southie a few blocks from the Broadway stop and also walking distance from Andrew. Its wicked nice , highly recommend it! The price varies depending on type if membership but its well worth it and its close to you and easily accessible. Check it out, they give tours! People there are great too, everyone is really into fitness and doesn't mess around or sit around and text\socialize. Its also the gym I use when I lift or on a day that's the weather doesn't permit working out outside so if you ever wanted a work out buddy I'd be down for that. I know there's also a gym in Quincy (but that would be kind of out of the way I think), I can't remember the name but its like 50 bucks for a 6 month membership and open 24 hours. But I think it's quite small and caters to mostly younger people/college kids. Southie has a younger crowd to but more people post college/lets twenties and everyone has always been respectful.
