So there are days I can barely move, and my stupid back gives out all the time. I need a good list of excerises or ways to increase weight loss. Currently I am doing Isagenix, 2 shakes a day plus healthy LG meals and snacks. Ive lost 14 lbs in the last month, but I need to up my movements. What can I do with an extruded disc? ( it's not herniated, it's broken open and oozing on my nerves. Ya..) So help!

Hey there, I have a herniated disc at L5 S1 since 2013 and ended up getting a cortisone injection in October 2014 which in turn allowed me to rehab. It was either that or an operation. I swear by foam rolling and postural alignment exercises - definitely helped me. I'm pretty much pain free now and I'm exercising regularly but will always use the foam roller before/after each session or whenever I feel any tightness creep in. I would also recommend seeing a physical therapist to learn which stretches will benefit you the most.

I work at a spine clinic, I agree with the above statements, everyone is different and you really don't want to do further damage just to get in a few exercises, not worth it if you hurt yourself and then you could set yourself back more. Def talk to physical therapist who knows your history.

I am 31 days post op after having a discectomy and laminectomy and I'm swimming 3x a week and walking 10k steps a day. I feel great. My surgery was a huge success. I know that everyone is different but I wanted to share.

Also had L5-S1 surgery in 08, 4 epidurals only lasted about a month each along with chiropractic care. Wish I had opted for surgery sooner, but I'm happy I'm able to do most anything I want to now. I still do the some of the same exercises and stretches from then still. Check with your Dr., he/she can guide you along the correct path. I wish you luck, protect your back.
