Another newbie

Hello everyone

I'm a newbie and so glad to find you all. Reading your posts I see a lot of great women with big hearts.

I'm 55, going on 30 (!), originally from England but now settled in the Sandia Park area of beautiful New Mexico. I spent nearly 6 months recently back in the UK helping my father fight his battle with lung cancer. It was traumatic to say the least and I gained a whopping 60lbs while I was there. Sadly, dad lost his brave fight in January. Since I've been home I have struggled to get my head around losing the excess weight. I am hoping that you wonderful ladies will help motivate and support me on my weight loss journey. At the moment it feels like I have a huge mountain to climb and I could certainly use some friends.

My March goals are:

Log every mouthful
Chew every mouthful at least 20 times
Only eat if I am hungry
Stop when I am full
Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day
Do yoga or some other form of exercise every day
Walk my dog at least twice a day
Make my 10k step goal every day
Be 2lbs or more lighter each week
Greet each new day with a smile and be grateful for all of my many blessings
Be loving and compassionate to everyone I encounter
Begin doing the groundwork for my Reiki and holistic healing practice in New Mexico.

So far I'm not doing brilliantly with these goals but now that I have put them out there for all to see I hope it will motivate me to finish March stronger than I started.

Love and light to all xx
Julue-Ann, New Mexico

I think I like these last 3 goals the best. Good luck on your practice.

With the other goals, water, eating, exercise you may want to shoot for 80-90%. I'm trying to get away from the all or mentality. It doesn't mean you strive for only 80%, it means we can't always be perfect and stop eating when we're satisfied or other restrictions. But by looking back at our day and seeing 80% good choices - that's a success.

Good luck on your goals. Progress, not perfection.

Oh, one last thought on your goal of "Be loving and compassionate to everyone I encounter" Don't forget to include yourself in that.

    Add me if you like.

Ooops, meant 'all or nothing' mentality
