Anyone ever successfully switch from Atkins to a different diet that doesn't restrict carbs? I've never been successful on anything but Atkins, but I am getting bored with it after 2 years.

Any help would be great, thanks!!!

    Hi Ellie,

About 8 years ago I lost 40 lbs on Atkins. I had the book, the bars, the shakes, the whole 9 yards. (Ketosis, bla bla bla) The weight just fell off.... I felt energetic and thin but it did come back on as soon as I started eating carbs again. The lbs came back fast. I never read up on maintenance or weening myself off of it. I am more of an extreme dieter. Its all or nothing with me. I think its possible to ween yourself off Atkins (which I recommend) but do not do it cold turkey. Have you felt any brittle bones or bone pain on Atkins? Especially your feet? I did. I had the 1st broken bone of my entire life on Atkins. My foot. I think I experienced bone weakening of some kind. I was taking all the proper supplements just FYI...

While I am not on Atkins anymore( nor will be) I do try to eat lower carb....like hardly eating any bread....and not drinking any carbs. High protein is good I think, especially if you have strength training of any kind. But low fat also good. I try to eat only good fats like avocados and olive oil, etc...

Yes, I lost about 40 pounds on Atkins but then could take it no more. Carbs and I were meant to be together. I went on Weight Watchers afterwards (well after a few dozen Cinnamon rolls) and lost additional weight. As long as you have a calorie deficit you will lose weight regardless of the diet, it's just math.

I unfortunately did not stay on Weight watchers so here I am again, this time just counting calories.
