sodium!

Does anyone else just get killed on sodium points everyday? Just my lunch time sandwich has around 900. It's crazy. I'd like to get my sodium down, but having a sandwich at lunch is what works with my busy life. I will look for lower sodium bread and meat, but I would willingly take some advice on it too!

Please and Thank you

Maybe instead of deli meats high in sodium try making your own chicken or egg salad at home

Even lower sodium sandwich will be higher. My bread is pretty low in Sodium Pepperidge Farm Oatmeal Light style. I have found prelogging my day helps me balance my sodium through the day.

I agree with prelogging. If I know one of my meals is going to be higher then I plan for the other to be lower. Also I try to choose lower sodium on things like canned beans, soup, and chips.

If you cannot avoid the sodium, eat something high in potassium to "offset" the damage.
Such as a glass of skim milk, a low sodium v8 (700 mg potassium), banana, cottage cheese, or yogurt.
I keep my sodium and potassium at a 1:1 ratio.

I'm learning to eat low sodium. Prelogging is a huge help. Choosing things like chicken breast or turkey (cook your own) rather than deli meat, going easy on condiments and reading labels is good too.

anything "prepared" is going to be high. Restaurant food is brutal.
