Is there a tax advantage to getting married?

If your combined income exceeds the "marriage benefit" then is there really any tax benefit to getting married or are you just getting hit hard on the marriage penalty tax?

I did my taxes with my husband last year and saw no difference on way or the other. I think I actually got more back when we were doing them separate. So we're not even bothering to do them together again. However I did like him doing my taxes for me. He's done this for the past 3 years after realizing how bad I was at it.0
